Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to oversee daily plant operations and lead the operations team during an assigned shift. This role is responsible for maintaining workplace safety, meeting production goals, monitoring equipment performance, and ensuring all operational activities are properly documented.

The ideal candidate has strong industrial operations experience, leadership skills, and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced plant environment. Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, refining, or similar industrial operations is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee plant operations throughout the shift to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.
• Lead shift change meetings and communicate production goals, equipment conditions, ongoing issues, and priorities to incoming supervisors.
• Ensure all employees follow company safety rules, environmental requirements, and operating procedures.
• Confirm employees wear the required personal protective equipment and use it correctly.
• Monitor employee performance and ensure operators and truck drivers complete their assigned duties safely and correctly.
• Oversee control room operators, pellet mill operators, equipment operators, wash area operators, and other assigned personnel.
• Monitor critical operating conditions and provide direction when adjustments are needed.
• Ensure control room staff accurately record alarms, equipment downtime, production changes, and unusual operating conditions.
• Verify that required equipment inspections, operating readings, and logbook entries are completed accurately.
• Prepare and distribute shift reports covering production, downtime, safety concerns, and key performance indicators.
• Ensure all required paperwork is completed and submitted to the designated location before the end of the shift.
• Confirm preventive maintenance inspections for mobile equipment are completed and submitted at the start of each shift.
• Ensure equipment problems are reported through the company's maintenance work request system.
• Respond to safety and environmental incidents according to established emergency procedures.
• Ensure operators complete job safety analyses, routine equipment inspections, and assigned operating rounds.
• Coach employees on proper procedures, safe work practices, and areas that need improvement.
• Provide leadership and make operational decisions to meet production targets while maintaining safety and equipment reliability.
• Participate in safety meetings and ensure required training and certifications remain current.
• Ensure materials, chemicals, and waste products are handled, stored, and disposed of properly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in an industrial plant, manufacturing facility, or process operations environment is preferred.
• Experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, refining, or a similar industrial setting is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures, equipment inspections, and plant operations.
• Ability to lead employees, manage shift priorities, and make sound operational decisions.
• Experience with shift reports, operating logs, maintenance requests, and production documentation.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to identify equipment issues and respond appropriately to abnormal operating conditions.
• Commitment to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and product quality.
• Ability to complete required training and maintain necessary certifications.
