The position offers the opportunity to grow within an employee-owned firm that values collaboration, accountability, and long-term relationships with the communities we serve.The Senior Project Manager serves as a trusted advisor to municipal and utility clients, overseeing projects from early planning through delivery to ensure expectations are met for scope, schedule, and budget. This individual plays a visible role in building and maintaining client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and supporting business development and pursuit efforts aligned with regional growth priorities. We are 100% employee-owned (ESOP) and offer outstanding health care coverage and other benefits, including:Affordable Medical, Dental & Vision InsuranceCompany paid Life and Disability InsurancePaid Time OffPaid HolidaysPaid Caregiver Leave Program401K Retirement Plan (Traditional and Roth options)Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)Career Development ProgramsAnd more…Essential functions and responsibilities:Manage project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.Collaborate with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk averse project scope and fee.Develop project-specific project plans, including Project Management Plans/Quality Management Plans.Manage subconsultants.Monitor and execute project progress, including identifying and mitigating risks, developing extra work order requests, and open-end contract task proposals.Develop and lead project status presentations.Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality outcome.Leverage advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks (such as overruns and scope changes), and implement effective mitigation strategies.Implement strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues.Marketing and Business Development:Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project.Develop and maintain a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders.Identify leads with targeted clients for development and execution into contract opportunities.Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process, including SMART Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy.Collaborate with Section Head and Office Leader on identifying leads and opportunities based on strategic goals.Assist Section Head and Office Leader with developing strategic goals based on client's program information, etc.Financial Performance:Participate in office's project financial status meetings.Prepare progress reports and review invoices.People Management:Provide coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-ins and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned.Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, coaching) that supports the growth and development of the team.Nonessential functions and responsibilities:Perform other related duties as assignedRequired Skills:Proficient in Microsoft OfficeStrong Communication SkillsStrong Presentation SkillsRequired Experience:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program15+ years of experienceProfessional Engineering License in District of Columbia, Maryland and/or VirginiaBusiness development experienceQualifications Preferred:Experience working with local clients at the county and state levelExperience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3Experience managing multidiscipline project teamsWorking Conditions:Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
