Medical Science Liaison, CNS - AZ, CO, NE, NM, UT

Position Overview Medical Science Liaison (Sr Manager) – responsible for developing the ecosystem strategic business plan and identifying key stakeholders vital to the ecosystem. The MSL provides clinical, scientific and health economic information related to CNS disease states and Otsuka products within the ecosystem and engages with Key Influencers, Local Practice Leaders, healthcare providers and patient groups to align clinical practice with Otsuka’s goals. Key Responsibilities Contribute a clinical and scientific perspective to the local execution plan, addressing customer challenges, issues, and opportunities to improve patient care. Build, cultivate, and leverage external relationships with key scientific and medical customers and organizations in the territory, including KIs, LPLs, KDMs and patient advocacy groups. Deliver on business objectives beyond the territory, impacting the overall Medical Affairs organization. Develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of the ecosystem to ensure alignment with Otsuka’s patient‑centric strategy and priorities. Serve as a credible source of evidence‑based information that demonstrates the value of Otsuka and its products from clinical, economic, and humanistic standpoints. Engage stakeholders at the local level that influence the region, fostering collaboration across the matrix team. Accountable to regional Field Medical leadership to shape and execute local medical strategies within planned timelines. Disseminate disease‑state and healthcare‑landscape information to customers in the field based on priorities. Responsible for clinical and data‑focused training of promotional and disease‑state speakers, and may serve as part of Otsuka’s speaker bureau. Collect and submit medical insights that drive decision‑making and prioritization of evidence generation efforts and healthcare solutions. Assist with Otsuka’s clinical trials program, including registrational, post‑marketing, investigator‑sponsored trials, health‑economic outcomes research, and other collaborations, providing clinical expertise and feedback on site selection and performance. Participate as a mentor in peer functional and therapeutic development, including training new hires. Support areas such as Safety & Pharmacovigilance for safety‑related issues, Sales Training medical education, and the Field Medical Center of Excellence for best‑practice sharing. Qualifications MD/DO, PharmD or PhD in life sciences required. Understanding of the interconnectivity of health systems and experience working with healthcare professionals and other decision makers. Minimum 2 years relevant experience in pharmaceutical Medical Affairs; prior training or experience in CNS disease preferred. Strong business acumen, ability to identify solutions aimed at improved patient outcomes, excellent communication and collaboration skills, conflict‑resolution ability, leadership and project‑team strategy, concise presentation skills, knowledge of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape, and ability to work in an ambiguous, transforming environment. Compensation & Benefits Minimum $150,034.00 – Maximum $224,250.00, plus incentive opportunity. The range represents a typical pay range for individuals hired in the role in the United States; actual pay may be influenced by experience and skills.
