BBSI is currently accepting applications for an ASC Ingot Processor for our aerospace manufacturing client in SE Portland.

Job Summary:
You’ll work as part of a team that prepares metal molds and equipment, helps with the furnace and pouring process, and handles finished metal ingots from production through shipping. The job involves operating forklifts, overhead cranes, robots, and other production equipment, as well as inspecting and preparing metal products.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Metal & Mold Preparation

• Inspect and deliver metal molds to the furnace area.
• Clean molds and install graphite plugs.
• Load and unload molds using forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists.
• Help troubleshoot robots and production equipment when problems occur.
• Assist with loading metal into melting pots.

Vacuum Furnace & Pouring Operations

• Set up and operate mold racks and conveyor equipment.
• Work with furnace operators during the metal-pouring process.
• Monitor the casting process from a viewing window or video screen.
• Remove newly poured metal ingots from molds.
• Clean molds and cut ingots when needed.
• Operate robotic equipment and other machinery.
• Add insulating material to molds to help keep the metal at the proper temperature.
• Move finished ingots to the cleaning area.

Inspecting & Preparing Finished Ingots

• Clean, inspect, weigh, and identify ingots.
• Use a handheld analyzer to check the metal's composition/type.
• Blast and grind ingots to prepare them for shipment.
• Mark, bag, and package ingots for shipping.
• Complete production paperwork, logs, and records.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to follow instructions, read, write and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, molten metal and other elements for extended periods of time.
• Ability to safely maneuver heavy loads with overhead cranes/hoists.
• Prefer previous experience with overhead cranes/hoists and automated equipment.
• NON NEGOTIABLE: Candidate must have US Persons document: either a US Passport or certified US birth certificate for ITAR compliance.

Forklift, hoist, hand tools, chains/straps/various lifting equipment, overhead crane, scale, conveyor belt, robotic ingot processing cell.
