Qualifications/Skills

1. High school diploma 2. Exhibits accurate and advanced typing skills 3. Proficient with technology 4. Good communication skills 5. CPR trained (permissible to be completed once hired) 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Physical Qualifications

1. Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician 2. Able to utilize resources from a variety of computer programs and other work units 3. Must be able to communicate verbally and through email 4. Bending, carrying, climbing must be able to travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking. Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving health-related equipment 5. Generally, requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing

Reports To: Building administrator(s) and School Nurse

Job Goal: Assists the school nurse in gathering and maintaining health related information for students in order for the nurse to provide immediate medical/health management issues.

Performance Responsibilities

1. Sign in students on daily log 2. Greet and screen visitors to the nurse's office 3. Escort students back and forth from the office to classrooms as necessary 4. Assist with entering student data into various programs 5. Assist with medical services to students, under the direction of the nurse 6. May administer medications or complete doctor ordered treatments to students as directed by the Nurse, in accordance with applicable code 7. Perform simple first-aid duties when the nurse is not available 8. Assist nurse with vision and hearing screenings 9. Set up files for new students to the district 10. Help gather information for a variety of health related surveys and forms 11. Notify appropriate staff if a student is going home 12. Assist in maintaining supplies and inventory 13. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students 14. Assist with personal needs of students 15. Assist in office, if necessary 16. Communicate with parents as necessary 17. Assume responsibility for other duties as assigned

Terms Of Employment: 180-day contract. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel (5:320).
