W.M. Schlosser Company, Inc. is seeking a dependable and experienced construction site Safety Manager to support safe, compliant field operations on active construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This role is ideal for a practical, field-focused safety professional who can conduct jobsite inspections, identify hazards, document findings, recommend corrective actions, and help reinforce company, owner, and regulatory safety requirements.
The Safety Manager will work closely with project management, the Director of Health and Safety, subcontractors, owner safety representatives, and other project stakeholders to promote hazard recognition, incident prevention, safety training, emergency preparedness, and consistent field-level follow-through.

What You'll Do
- Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, audits, observations, and surveys to identify unsafe conditions, work practices, environmental concerns, and other potential hazards.
- Document inspection findings, safety concerns, corrective actions, training records, incident reports, and other required safety program documentation.
- Review findings with project supervision, field leadership, and the Director of Health and Safety; recommend practical corrective actions and follow up to confirm hazards are addressed.
- Support compliance with WMS safety standards, project-specific requirements, owner programs, OCIP/CCIP requirements, and applicable OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and support site-specific safety plans, project start-up safety materials, orientations, toolbox talks, and field-level safety training.
- Coach employees, supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and other jobsite personnel on hazard recognition, PPE, emergency procedures, safe work practices, and corrective actions.
- Review and coordinate subcontractor safety plans, job hazard analyses, activity hazard analyses, and related documentation for alignment with project, owner, and company requirements.

Actively coaches, mentors, and engages project teams at all levels to foster a strong safety culture, ensuring employees understand, embrace, and take ownership of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of construction field safety experience, preferably in commercial, industrial, utility, infrastructure, or public works construction environments.
- Working knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA requirements, hazard recognition, incident prevention, PPE requirements, and safe work procedures for active jobsites.
- Experience conducting jobsite safety inspections or surveys, documenting findings, communicating safety concerns, and recommending corrective actions to field supervision.
- Ability to recognize common construction hazards, including fall protection, excavation and trenching, confined spaces, ladders, scaffolding, equipment operations, rigging, silica, lead, asbestos awareness, fire prevention, and environmental or health-related exposures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to discuss safety issues clearly and professionally with employees, supervisors, subcontractors, project leadership, owner representatives, and outside safety personnel.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, dependability, and sound judgment, with the ability to manage inspections, reports, follow-up items, and project priorities in a timely manner.
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent field safety experience may be considered.
- Recognized construction safety certification (CHST, STS-C, ASP, CSP, CSMC, or similar), OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid/AED, Confined Space and Topman, DEQ (state specific), Fall Protection and Competent Person, Hazard Communication, Asbestos/Lead/Silica Awareness, Ladder Safety, Reasonable Suspicion, Signaling and Rigging, Trenching and Excavation required.
- OSHA 10 and/or 30 Authorized Trainer, OSHA 500 or 510, HAZWOPER training, Work Zone Safety training, and equipment operator training desired.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to assigned project sites as needed.
