PRN Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Kyle, San Marcos, and Bastrop locations. This PRN position will work between 0‑19 hours per week for a clinic with regular hours Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm. No weekends, call, or major holidays. The role can be Level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience. What does the PRN RN do? Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age‑specific differences in the patient population. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess and provide therapeutic management of patient/family needs and supports the U.S. Oncology Compliance Program. Responsibilities Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. Assesses health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history. Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material. Provides psychosocial support to patients and families. Facilitate clinical operations and patient care. Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart. Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre‑testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients. Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient chart. As necessary, facilitates communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinates services related to patient care. Assists patients in locating available community resources. Interprofessional collaboration. Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. Qualifications Level 1 Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state. 0–3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements) 3–5 years nursing experience. Oncology certification preferred. Level Sr (in addition to Level 1 and 2 requirements) Five years nursing experience.
