About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join its senior leadership team. The COO will be responsible for the organization's internal infrastructure, overseeing finance, human resources, facilities, technology, and compliance. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth, sustainable, and scalable operation of the company, which is dedicated to fostering creativity, accessibility, and community through visual arts education. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong financial acumen, capable of building and managing systems, policies, and teams that support the staff in focusing on the company's mission. Specific responsibilities include organizational and team leadership, financial management and compliance, operations and facilities, human resources and administration, and technology and information security. Candidates for the COO position at the company should have a minimum of 7 years' of experience in operations, financial management, or nonprofit administration, with a proven track record in team leadership and P&L responsibility. Experience in nonprofit finance and accounting, including budgeting, financial analysis, GAAP, audits, and grant/contract compliance, is essential. The successful candidate will also have a background in managing HR functions, IT systems, and facilities, with a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. The role requires a problem-solver with an entrepreneurial mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple teams, vendors, and complex projects with attention to detail.
