Position Overview

We have an immediate requirement for an ADMS System Engineer to support a major utility client in South Plainfield, NJ. The ADMS System Engineer will be responsible for the full technology lifecycle of Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) , including implementation, configuration, integration, testing, deployment, upgrades, production support, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with ADMS/Grid Operations Systems and the ability to work closely with system operators, analysts, product managers, cybersecurity, network teams, vendors, and other technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, develop, test, deploy, and support ADMS solutions and integrated systems.

• Analyze business requirements, operational workflows, and end-user needs and translate them into technical solutions.

• Support ADMS implementation and production operations across development, test, and production environments.

• Perform system upgrades, patches, enhancements, defect fixes, and deployment activities.

• Troubleshoot escalated ADMS issues and perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) .

• Analyze application logs, system traces, configurations, and recent changes to identify and resolve issues.

• Monitor system performance and ensure ADMS applications meet reliability and operational requirements.

• Support integration testing involving SCADA, OMS, GIS, DMS, Historian, ICCP , and enterprise data interfaces.

• Validate data flow, system interfaces, and integration points supporting grid operations.

• Perform Windows and Linux server/workstation patching and environment readiness activities.

• Work with Windows/Linux command-line tools for configuration and troubleshooting.

• Interpret network topology diagrams, IP/LAN schemas, firewall configurations, server architecture diagrams, and interface specifications.

• Configure workstations, applications, servers, and system components according to project requirements.

• Work with virtualization platforms such as VMware vCenter for provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining system resources.

• Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to resolve technical issues.

• Support end users with system access, configuration, login, and functional requests.

• Participate in peer reviews of technical designs, configurations, implementation plans, code, and deployment artifacts.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, and operational runbooks.

• Develop and manage operational/analytical reports and dashboards, including Power BI , where required.

• Communicate system status, technical issues, deployment activities, and resolutions to technical and business stakeholders.

Must-Have Skills

• 10+ years of experience supporting, upgrading, and implementing ADMS.

• Hands-on ADMS implementation and production support experience.

• Strong ADMS / Grid Operations Systems integration experience.

• Strong systems troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.

• Experience supporting utility/grid operations environments.

• Experience with ADMS interfaces/integrations such as:

  • SCADA

  • OMS

  • GIS

  • DMS

  • Historian

  • ICCP

  • Enterprise data integrations

• Experience with Windows and Linux environments.

• Experience with system logs, traces, configuration validation, and technical troubleshooting.

• Ability to work with network diagrams, IP/LAN configurations, firewall information, and server architecture.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• VMware vCenter experience.

• Power BI/reporting experience.

• Experience with cybersecurity and network teams in utility environments.

• Experience supporting ADMS upgrades, patches, and new module deployments.

• Experience working with system operators and grid operations teams.

• Experience with utility application environments and enterprise integrations.

Candidate Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on ADMS experience preferred/required.

• Must have experience with ADMS implementation, upgrades, and production support .

• Must be willing to work onsite in South Plainfield, NJ either 5 days/week or under the approved hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite + 2 days remote.

• US Citizen or Green Card only.
