Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a busy Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, and Obstetrical Emergency Departments, staffed by cross-trained team members including RNs, OB Surgical Technicians, and others. Responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, and evaluating patient care using the nursing process, administering medications, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and documenting patient information. The nurse addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs, provides patient and family education, and delegates tasks appropriately. Qualifications include a Nursing Bachelor's degree (preferred), at least 1 year of relevant experience, and valid RN licensure. Certifications required are BLS, NRP, ACLS, and a fetal monitoring credential such as AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC C-EFM. Preferred candidates have experience in perinatal settings or completion of a Perinatal RN Residency. Additional requirements involve attending orientation, completing competency validations, and maintaining certifications within specified grace periods. Key skills include clinical independence, adaptability, patient education, and effective delegation in a fast-paced environment.
