Job Description

This role focuses on inspecting, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems and related equipment in a large industrial facility. You will support safe and efficient plant operations by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with equipment installation and major repair projects, while strictly following all safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment, including air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, and freon units, to ensure optimal operation and compliance with safety standards.
• Diagnose issues and perform repairs and overhauls on ammonia refrigeration systems, including replacing motors, pumps, switches, safety controls, solenoids, and fuses across plant refrigeration areas.
• Support equipment setup and teardown, fabrication, and installation of new plant machinery, assisting with major repairs and construction projects as required.
• Follow facility safety protocols at all times, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space procedures, Respiratory Protection, and Fall Protection requirements.
• Participate in Hazmat training and team activities to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and emergency preparedness.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and operations team members to minimize equipment downtime and improve system reliability.
• Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to maintain clear records of equipment status and work performed.
• Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements and communicate recommendations to leadership or engineering teams.

Essential Skills

• 0 to 1 year of related experience, ideally working with refrigeration systems in an industrial or commercial environment.
• Foundational knowledge of general refrigeration maintenance, including troubleshooting and servicing refrigeration equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems relevant to refrigeration, such as motors, switches, safety controls, and fuses.
• Exposure to HVAC systems and principles, including air conditioning units and airflow management.
• Knowledge of plumbing concepts as they relate to refrigeration and boiler systems.
• Ability to work with boilers and ammonia compressors, including monitoring performance and identifying issues.
• Capability to perform preventive maintenance tasks on refrigeration equipment and related mechanical systems.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of routine maintenance and repair activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux Falls, SD.

The pay range for this position is $30.25 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Sioux Falls,SD.
