Job Description

The intermediate health physicist will perform duties within the Radiation Health unit of the Radiological Controls division at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. This position will primarily support responsibilities within the External Dosimetry area of the Radiation Health unit, which supports regulatory requirements that enable Laboratory personnel to perform necessary radiological work. These regulatory requirements are fundamental in verifying the effectiveness of the NNPP's radiological controls program and demonstrating the Program Principle of protecting the workforce.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Maintain qualifications in accordance with an established training program.
* Follow DT-702/PD Quality System requirements in the execution of the Knolls Laboratory dosimetry program.
* Execute functions within the personnel, area, and environmental dosimetry programs at the Knolls Laboratory to include: dosimeter annealing, exchange, and processing; dose review, loading, and reporting; dosimeter equipment calibration and maintenance; and exposure tracking and management.
* Support office operations such as dosimeter construction, issuance, and record management.
* Participate in implementation of the new DT-734 dosimetry system, including helping to develop technical and quality requirements and building the expertise necessary to become a subject matter leader.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
* Participation in the Knolls Laboratory Emergency Response Organization
* Work on special radiation health projects as assigned

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills

* Radiological experience- must be able to work with and around radioactive material and radioactive calibration sources.
* Previous radiation health (i.e., health physics) experience
* Radiation worker qualified
* Microsoft Office proficiency
* Demonstrated ability to team effectively in small and large groups both within organization and with other organizations

Pay Range
$86,100.00 - $134,600.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
