We also pay for our employees parking./ph3Job Summary/h3pUnder the direction of the Radiology Medical Director, the PET/CT technologist:/pulliAdministers radioactive material to patients for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes operates a positron emission technology (PET) and a computerized tomography scanner (CT) at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner./liliEnsures services are performed in a safe environment in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements./liliServes as part of the imaging center team and seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice./li/ulh3Essential Job Functions/h3ulliReceives, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patients medical record./liliCorroborates patients clinical history with physicians order and procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner. May also verify informed consent, if applicable./liliAssumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures./liliIdentifies, prepares, positions patient, and competently performs procedure by using established PET/CT protocols or as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner for diagnostic interpretation or intervention, to achieve the highest quality image./liliApplies principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others./liliPerforms venipuncture and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner./liliIdentifies, prepares, and/or administers medications, and/or radioactive isotopes as prescribed by and under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner in accordance with state and federal regulations./liliEvaluates images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded./liliConducts POC Creatinine clearance testing in accordance with established PET/CT protocols or as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner for diagnostic interpretation./liliProvides education to patients, as well as students and other health care providers./liliPerforms ongoing quality assurance activities./liliAs required, instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties as necessary./liliProvides optimal patient care by applying established and accepted protocols./liliDetermines that all procedural requirements are in place to achieve a quality diagnostic or therapeutic procedure./liliManipulates and reconstructs digital data for display or hard copy records, ensuring proper identification is evident./liliMaintains archival storage of digital data as appropriate./liliAssists in maintaining supply inventory./liliEstablishes ownership of clinical area by taking pride in appearance and readiness of exam rooms, equipment, and supplies./liliParticipates in performance improvement activities./liliDemonstrates consistent use of AIDET (Acknowledge patient, Introduce yourself, provide Duration/timeline for test, Explain the test, Thank them for choosing our center) and HEAL (Hear them out, Empathize, Apologize, Leap into action to solve) when interacting with patients/customers./liliTakes the initiative to help other modalities/areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when work load/area allows./liliSelects appropriate CT technical exam factors with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters./liliAttends/participates in staff meetings, in-services, and center-wide meetings as scheduled./liliPerforms all other duties as assigned./li/ulh3Requirements/h3pstrongExperience:/strong/pulliUp to 5 years experience as a PET/CT Technologist/li/ulpstrongEducation:/strong/pulliMust be a graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine program./li/ulpstrongLicense/Certification Requirements:/strong/ppMust be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist as an ARRT-N or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board as a CNMT. Must maintain a current valid registration from either ARRT or CNMT.
