Essential Job Functions

• Perform daily analytical testing and evaluation of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods using a range of laboratory methods, including gas chromatography (GC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), spectrophotometry, titration, wet chemistry, gravimetric, and organoleptic/sensory techniques.
• Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting of assigned laboratory equipment and analytical instruments, including flash point testers, densitometers, refractometers, and other testing devices.
• Evaluate test results and exercise sound judgment to determine conformance with established quality standards, specifications, and applicable procedures.
• Ensure all inventory-management processes are accurately maintained and consistently followed, including production-related inventory movements, material quantities consumed, documentation, and appropriate storage practices.
• Follow all company, quality, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and procedures.
• Communicate quality-related findings, concerns, and results clearly and promptly to the appropriate departments, with minimal supervision.
• Maintain the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Educational Qualifications

• Associate degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or another related scientific field preferred.

Experience and Competencies

• Minimum of two years of experience in a quality control environment within the flavor, food, fragrance, chemical, or related manufacturing industry preferred.
• Demonstrated experience conducting sensory evaluations of raw materials and finished products.
• Ability to approve or reject raw materials and compounds based on GC/analytical data, sensory results, and established product specifications.
• Proficiency with computers and standard business software applications.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, good laboratory practices, documentation requirements, and quality-control procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Physical Demands

• Ability to operate standard office and laboratory equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, telephones, calculators, and a variety of analytical laboratory instruments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive laboratory tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move materials and full containers weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Physical requirements may range from sedentary to moderately active work and may include standing, walking, and reaching for prolonged periods, generally not exceeding eight hours for any individual activity.
• The employee may be required to handle hazardous chemicals and materials in a laboratory setting. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats, must be worn at all times as required.

• This position is primarily based in a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
• The employee may be exposed to chemicals, laboratory reagents, odors, and other materials associated with quality-control testing and production operations.
