About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: FS Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery and 2 years of travel experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advance Provider or NRP Instructor Must-Have: Experience in documenting patient responses and administering medication as prescribed Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments while noting all changes in physician orders. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed and initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge. Informs patient and family of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is essential. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is important. Some computer skills are required.
