Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities.
The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human responses.
Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is a key responsibility of the RN.
The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development.
The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Job responsibilities include assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, considering factors related to safety and effectiveness.
Educating patients and families in health promotion and disease management is essential.
The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy.
Collaboration in productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing and time management, is expected.
The RN complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
Active participation in professional development and continuing education is encouraged.
Integration of nursing research and current evidence into practice is a responsibility of the RN.
Providing a supportive learning environment for new employees and students is important.
The RN may perform duties related to charge nurse or shift coordinator roles when assigned.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
