What you'll do The Director of Facilities will oversee the daily functions of the Maintenance staff as it relates to hospital building and grounds. Assure regulatory and accreditation compliance and continuous readiness for supervised functions. Responsible for Statement of Conditions, and serves as hospital Safety and Emergency Preparedness Officer, chairing the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee. Occasionally, the Director may be asked to provide facilities-related support to others in the BHN network, as requested by the BMC Vice President of Facilities. The Director oversees overall financial management for the department, including development and management of all project and capital budgets. The Director
reports to the BMC Vice President of Facilities and is an active participant in the long range facilities planning, construction and renovation processes. The Director is accountable for providing optimal customer relations, operational support, and project management in a cost-effective manner for facilities within the corporation and affiliate organizations in a cost-effective manner.
The Director is accountable for coordinating third party activities such as design and engineering consultants. The Director is also accountable to develop and direct the implementation of engineering and construction goals, objectives and strategies with direct oversight of Bassett's design and construction consultants. The Director responds to internal and external inquiries regarding construction. The Director directs the analysis, application and review of State, Federal and local regulators in coordination of construction projects such as NYSDOH, County Codes Office, and others and determines the impact on design, construction and operations. Develops or oversees the development of cost estimates, schedules and other projections.
The Director prepares budgets, schedules and work plans for design and construction and reports on these and other initiatives to leadership.
The Director also ensures the safe, clean, effective and efficient operation of all facilities and the infrastructure therein. Responsible for the overall management coordination to include contract management and support of the facilities development processes. Provides guidance, support and leadership as part of the capital development process. Actively engages in the planning and implementation of capital projects to support continued operations and development in the categories of renovations and new construction. Develops and implements policies at the department and division levels and provides input into corporate policy development.

Pay Transparency Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum: USD $109,192.70/Yr.
Pay Range Maximum: USD $163,789.06/Yr.

- Manage capital and facilities projects within the approved scope, time and funding; serve as hospital liaison to outside construction and design services on major projects.
- Maintain, enhance and build facility engineering policies and processes.
- Influence construction and design processes.
- Develop annual capital, expense and payroll budgets.
- Through effective partnerships, ensure the effective use of resources for planning emergency response and business continuity.
- Manage Safety Program, ensuring up to date manuals, processes, education and appropriate training
- Maintenance staffing schedules are established to effectively meet hospital operational needs; building needs are identified and maintained and/or repaired in a timely manner; and providing assistance to Maintenance staff when workload demands.
- Daily work orders are prioritized and assignment of responsibilities is processed in a timely manner.
- On-Call service program is performed.
- Assures that the rules of start and quit times as well as meal and other breaks are observed.
- Participates in the interviewing process for new Maintenance staff.
- Provides on-the-job training for Maintenance staff.
- Ensure all employees in the department know what is to be accomplished in their jobs; what authority they have to accomplish their jobs; whether the results of their performance are satisfactory; and, what they can do to improve performance.
- Support employee development through training, formal and informal coaching and performance feedback and appraisal.
- Completes performance evaluations for Maintenance staff.
- Departmental reports are prepared and accurate records are maintained.
- Proper procedure for ordering supplies and parts is followed according to policy. This includes but not limited to;
- Fuel oil
- Oxygen (liquid)
- Bottle gas
- Quality control systems are established and maintained, in accordance with institutional and departmental policy and regulatory agency requirements. Identify, monitor, evaluate and assure Quality Indicators.
- All customer requests and complaints are addressed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Develops and accomplishes objectives, strategies and tactics for the Facilities departments with special emphasis on Annual Operating Plan Objectives. Where appropriate, institute corrective actions, including reallocating resources, reprioritizing, and/or recommending modifications to
established plans. - Oversees the design, planning, and construction of buildings and support infrastructures and systems for BHN properties and related interests.
- Continued education on codes and compliance.
- To identify professional development needs for staff within the unit to monitor the development of staff, and to plan for succession.
- To ensure that employees in the unit possess or are developing the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work, that a plan of development exists for all employees who seek career growth, and that opportunities for initiative and growth are provided in the context of departmental functions.
- To ensure the resources necessary to support cost effective program and service expansions.
- Manages all aspects of relevant vendor/contractor-related services including fiscal performance, work progress, work completion, adherence to contract terms, services and quality.
- Develop in conjunction with the engineering team compliant statement of condition drawings.
- Responsible for building compliance around all aspects of TJC accreditation and life safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 4 year/Bachelor's Degree or higher, required
- 10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum 5 years facilities experience, required
- 5 within healthcare, preferred
- Minimum one year previous leadership, management or supervisor experience, required
- Minimum one year experience with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory agencies, required
- Minimum one year experience with project planning, required
- One or more of the following licenses or certifications, preferred: PE (Professional Engineer), CFM (Certified Facilities Manager), CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager), CPM (Certified Property Manager), CESCO (Certified Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer), Code Enforcement, and/or TJC Certification
