Telemetry Monitor Technician

Summary Daily tasks of observing, operating, and maintaining cardiac monitors; identify cardiac arrhythmias and seek appropriate intervention; perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Responsibilities (30%) Assumes daily tasks of observing, operating, and maintaining cardiac monitors, both individual telemetry units on patients and main telemetry monitors at the nurse’s station. (30%) Diligently observe cardiac monitors, interpret heart rate and rhythm accurately, obtain baseline strips, recognize and report arrhythmias, record additional strips as needed. (25%) Identify changes in cardiac pattern and life‑threatening dysrhythmias and notify the appropriate Registered Nurse within an appropriate time frame. (15%) Maintain telemetry equipment, including replacing batteries, wires, electrode pads, and cleaning equipment. Other duties: obtain rhythm strips as directed, have access to medication and supply rooms for stocking, perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Certifications and Licensures BLS: Basic Life Support (within 3 months of hire or transfer) TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (within 6 months of hire or transfer, 24 months for those hired before 12/31/2023) Required Education High school diploma or equivalent. Experience, Training and Skills Knowledge of reading, writing, mathematics, and computer skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Interpersonal skills for communication with individuals and groups at all levels. Must successfully pass dysrhythmia testing with an 80% score or higher during pre‑employment. Must successfully pass annual competency dysrhythmia testing, including mandatory e‑learning modules. Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Windows; may require further learning opportunities. Preferred: documented completion of a dysrhythmia course or equivalent, such as a bachelor’s degree in cardiac rehab. Physical/Mental Requirements and Typical Working Conditions Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief, and death. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex or substitutes. Mobility throughout the facility, with or without an assisted device. Vision and hearing sufficient with or without assistive devices. Must sit, stand, walk for long periods; frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other infectious materials; must follow blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing requirements. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and stay alert. Dexterity required for handling, reaching, grasping; may require repetitive movements. Physical demands: sedentary; occasional lifting or carrying of 0–10 lbs up to 33% of the workday. #J-18808-Ljbffr
