Job Title Job Title: 586 – Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier Dept Number: Varies - Retail Job Summary *Please Note: This position will be posted through 6/19/2026* This position requires greeting customers, completing fast and friendly transactions, and strong cash handling skills are highly preferred. The role supports Goodwill’s mission by offering to round up transactions and thanking customers for their purchases. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Retail Centers are open 9 AM to 6 PM daily. Part‑time positions are available and must be open to working weekends. Pay: $15.95 per hour. Eligible for DailyPay, an optional benefit that allows access to pay on a schedule. Part‑time employees in the Retail and Sales/Operations Division are eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. All employees may also contribute to a retirement plan (pre‑tax or Roth) – must be 18 years old to participate. Essential Functions Verify till counts, provide accurate cashier transactions, and maintain a balanced cash drawer using a computer‑based point‑of‑sale system. Drive the roundup initiative by engaging customers and sharing knowledge of its mission. Provide excellent customer service upholding company values. Assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases. Complete opening and closing procedures. Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, regularly cleaning shelves and racks, picking items up off the floor, putting away product from racks, carts, or baskets, and handling returned or unwanted items. Provide a safe, clean, well‑stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms. Initiate customer delight/power hour calls over intercom to organize and clean sales floor. Follow all retail center policies and procedures. Follow all safety processes and procedures. Cross‑train in other departments or areas, acting as a back‑up as required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience One year of retail sales or cash handling experience is preferred. Other Requirements Accurate with numbers and general calculations; understand U.S. currency and coin values. Proficient in basic math: adding, subtracting, and multiplying. Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers. Operate a computer‑based cash register and credit card machine. Withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight hours per day. Ability to see color for accurate transactions. Work a varied schedule that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime.
