Duties and Responsibilities Designated first‑line supervisory authority responsible for 24/7 operation of assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. Responsible and accountable for direction and supervision of orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement evidence‑based cutting‑edge programs/processes. Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adheres to ethical principles in decision‑making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. Equips staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes. Cultivates alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence‑based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Qualifications and Preferred Experience Five years recent Operating Room experience. Two years recent Operating Room hospital management experience. BSN or MSN. Current ACLS. Preferred: Five years recent Operating Room experience; Two years recent Operating Room hospital management experience; BSN or MSN; Current ACLS. Requirements of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education and Accreditation Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) must be recognized by the appropriate State‑accrediting agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Foreign education must be accompanied by a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with the transcript. Benefits Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards.
