Paramedic Emergency Room ER

Schedule Full Time Nights, 36 hours per week. 7p-7a, working rotating weekends and holidays. Job Summary The paramedic is a member of the healthcare team assisting in the care of free‑standing emergency department patients under the guidance and direction of the Emergency Department Medical Director and the general supervision of the Emergency Department Director. The role follows physician orders for protocols, medications, and diagnostic tests, providing age‑appropriate individualized care. Responsibilities Reception, rapid initial assessment and vital signs on arriving patients Answer EMS radio calls and relay information to provider and Charge RN Insert airway adjuncts and administer oxygen therapy End tidal CO 2 monitoring Oropharynx and endotracheal suctioning Cardiac monitoring including 12‑lead EKG and vital signs Assist with defibrillation, cardioversion, and transcutaneous pacing Perform intravenous access including intraosseous lines and venipuncture Assist physician/provider with central line insertions, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertion, needle thoracotomy, endotracheal intubation, thoracentesis, arterial line insertion, and suturing Medication administration from the approved medication list as described by policy Fingerstick glucose testing Collect and perform point‑of‑care moderately complex testing according to established policies and procedures Perform and document instrument maintenance; conduct quality control and troubleshoot instruments effectively when appropriate Splint extremity injuries using pre‑formed devices Transport patients to receiving units Stock supplies and equipment; check out dates of supplies on carts and in drawers; maintain equipment with daily/monthly checks as established Clean and prepare patient rooms Communicate accurately and timely regarding patient care issues or status changes Document care accurately and timely Perform quality control and maintenance on laboratory analyzers and POCT Perform laboratory testing and POCT applicable to the free‑standing emergency department Prepare or administer medications not on the approved medication list Administer or check blood products, insulin, or chemotherapy products Take telephone orders Call nursing report to receiving units or other facilities Perform detailed or focused assessments in Electronic Data Management (EDM) Discharge patients, and assist with discharge preparation such as crutches, splinting, and dressing Qualifications Active National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as a Paramedic Paramedic New Hampshire license required American Heart Association BCLS American Heart Association ACLS within 30 days of hire CPI within 30 days of hire American Heart Association PALS or ENPC preferred Two years of clinical paramedic experience preferred Benefits Comprehensive benefits for medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, behavioral health and telemedicine services Well‑being support, including free counseling and referral services Paid time off, paid family leave, long‑ and short‑term disability coverage, and leaves of absence 401(k) Plan with a 100% match on 3% to 9% of pay (based on years of service), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, flexible spending accounts, preferred banking partnerships, retirement readiness tools, rollover support, and financial wellbeing counseling Tuition assistance, student loan assistance, certification support, dependent scholarships, and partnership with Galen College of Nursing Additional benefits for fertility and family building, adoption assistance, life insurance, supplemental health protection plans, auto and home insurance, legal counseling, identity theft protection, and consumer discounts We are an equal opportunity employer.
