What you will do:Grow in a fulfilling career as an Airport Security Screener at the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) working alongside a team of aviation security professionals.You will use your outstanding customer service and critical-thinking skills while ensuring passenger safety by identifying dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and/ or on the passengers themselves, and preventing those objects from being transported aboard the aircraft.Responsibilities and skills specific to this role include, but are not limited to:Passenger and Baggage screening using various electronic imaging and screening equipmentPerform critical safety tasks such as conducting pat-down searches, operating x-ray machines and hand-held wandsCourteously communicate and interact with travelers, providing directions and responding to inquiries calmly.Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds or assisting others in liftingAbility to stand and remain standing for periods of up to three hoursPossess proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)Ability to successfully complete required classroom and on-the-job training and certification examsWork Schedule:Ability to work any day, Monday – Sunday, and any shift between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PMWhat you will need:Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. NationalBe at least 18 years of ageHave a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)Pass a computerized assessment (pattern recognition and 2D/3D spatial reasoning)Pass and maintain required medical evaluations, including vision, hearing, and joint mobilityPass pre-employment drug screening and remain compliant throughout employment.Must meet eligibility requirements for a TSA Public Trust, including successful completion of post-offer background, criminal, and financial checks.Minimum Clearance to Start: Public TrustWhat we offer: Competitive CompensationHourly Wage: $19.64/hour with a total compensation of $27.42 to include wages, benefits and a retirement plan!TrainingNo prior experience is necessary.Receive on-the-job training to become a certified officer.Benefits for you and your familyMedical | Dental | Vision401KVacation Leave | Sick LeaveFlexible Spending AccountsVoluntary Life/AD&DEmployer Paid Long | Short Term DisabilityEducation & Professional Development ReimbursementEmployee Referral BonusesPaid TrainingService AwardsTravel and Telecommuting:Telecommute Option: Not available - this is an onsite positionRelocation: Relocation is not provided.Working with VMD: VMD Corp, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xcelerate Solutions, is part of the nation's critical air travel infrastructure.
