Assistant Professor of Education - Secondary Education

The Carthage College Department of Education seeks an Assistant Professor of Education. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible contract (non-tenure) position. We seek a highly qualified and versatile faculty member with interdisciplinary licensure expertise to support and expand innovative teacher preparation pathways. The department is committed to preparing future educators who can skillfully serve diverse populations by integrating strong pedagogy with culturally responsive, non-biased, and empathetic approaches to teaching and learning. We provide both undergraduate and graduate pathways to licensure as well as a Master's in Education program. Primary Responsibilities Teach general courses for all education students as well as within secondary education pathways (4-12 or K-12) Teach graduate courses as needed in a hyflex synchronous/asynchronous format Lead or contribute to program innovation in high-need certification areas Participate in departmental service and program leadership initiatives Required Qualifications PhD or EdD in Education or related field, but will consider a Master's degree with significant experience Demonstrated expertise in secondary education area(s) such as English, Math, Science, Social Sciences, Art, Music, Theatre, and/or Physical Education. P–12 teaching experience Preferred Qualifications Experience working across multiple grade bands or licensure areas Experience with program design, interdisciplinary teaching, or clinical partnerships Leadership experience in schools or educator preparation programs About Carthage Located on the shore of Lake Michigan in the thriving Chicago-Milwaukee corridor, Carthage College blends the best liberal arts traditions with desirable degree programs, transformative learning opportunities, and personal attention from dedicated faculty and staff.
