Regional Medical Director

Job Description Position Summary The Veterinary Medical Director (MD) is responsible for aligning strategic plan and objectives with veterinary practice excellence. The Medical Director will continue to practice medicine while being responsible for leading the clinical practice. The purpose of this position is to manage and oversee the day‑to‑day operations related to the medical care and treatment rendered to the patients. The MD oversees the training, organization, supervision, evaluation, and accountability of DVMs within their practice. The Medical Director is responsible for setting the highest standard of care and working with doctor teams to achieve that standard. The Medical Director also educates clients and strives to deliver a high level of all aspects of veterinary care to companion animals. The Medical Director will establish, build, and maintain a patient load in accordance with hospital expectations. Reporting Reports directly to the Regional Medical Director, with a dotted line to the Regional Vice President for Operations and Operation Director, the MD works collaboratively with these individuals to drive superior outcomes in terms of quality of care, client and DVM experience, and financial success. Responsibilities & Objectives Responsible for performing their duties in a way that creates an environment where: The patient comes first. Empowerment of every team member to ensure an exceptional client and patient experience. Blameless Problem Solving within the hospital. Exceptional teamwork and commitment to set goals. Mentor and Assist the associate veterinarians to ensure: Medical proficiency Surgical proficiency Client communication Medical charting Charging for services Holding themselves and other DVMs accountable Mentorship of DVMs Setting the highest standard of care and working with doctor teams to achieve that standard. Our minimal goal is adherence to industry standards. Utilize standard Algorithms for different disease states. Diagnostic Code adherence. Accountable for managing doctors, medical standards of the practice and mentorship of associate DVMs. Strive to meet the medical standards set forth in AAHA Standards for Accreditation or VECCS Standards for ER Facilities as guidelines for best practice within your hospital's ability. Assist with the procurement processes in your practice in line with discussions with the Operations team balancing operational efficiency and cost reduction with the availability of maintaining high‑quality medicine. Develops a strong client and community relationship. Act as a key leader on the practice's leadership and medical teams. Coaching and providing constructive feedback to doctors, managers, technicians, and veterinary assistants including performance reviews and terminations when necessary. Partner with the Practice Manager to achieve success in the practice. Work with the Regional Medical Directors, Regional VPs of Operation and Operations Director. Aid in the planning and participate in all Hospital Meetings. Organize and attend monthly doctor meetings. Review KPI's of practice with the Practice Manager and Ops Team. Assist recruiting in the process of evaluating and hiring new doctors. Maintain a full-time doctor schedule at the practice and assist in the healthcare team's schedule. Maintain DEA registration as Primary Registrant as required by the Controlled Substance Act (CSA), 21 USC 801-890, and Title 21, Code of Federal regulations, Parts 1300 to 1316. Maintain a State Controlled Substance License, if required by you. Promotes and upholds veterinary ethical standards and maintains the integrity and reputation of the organization. This includes: Medical Records Upholding strict pharmaceutical protocols Adhering to environmental and safety regulations Qualifications, Education, and Experience Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree required. Minimum 5 years of experience as a practicing Veterinarian. Preferred 3+ years of experience directing a veterinary team. Previous experience with multisite clinic responsibility, preferably with a veterinarian practice consolidator. Previous experience with presenting continuing education, professional organization leadership, boards, and other professional leadership roles preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr 6AM City, LLC
