Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role The Senior Engineer will design and modify integrated circuit sockets and components, provide technical support for sales and customers, and ensure quality checks for assembly and components. First 3‑5 months during onboarding you will be onsite 5 days/week. After ramp up, 3 days/week (Tues, Thurs, Fri in office). Minimal local travel to customer sites. Overnight travel is rare, with occasional trips to Japan or Minnesota. Daily meal and business expenses covered during company travel. Responsibilities Design Designs and modifies IC sockets and components Makes drawing changes as needed Checks and approves drawings of Engineering Staff Technical Support Provides technical support for Sales as needed Provides technical support to customers through phone, email, and on-site work; refers to engineering drawings and customer lab measurements Makes recommendations to customers for choosing correct sockets Quality Assurance Researches and provides problem solving, both in-house and to customers Provides quality check for assembly and piece part Tests and evaluates IC sockets and piece parts Evaluates new piece parts from local manufacturers Generates corrective action plan and report Actively collaborates with global colleagues across our client's locations Information Management and Reporting Researches, analyzes, and updates technical information database Communicates on a regular basis with other departments, management, customers, assigned factory, and freight forwarder. May, at times, share information with external consultants working on behalf of the Company. May attend technical conferences, make visits to universities, and gather information regarding specific industries. Responsible for understanding current market condition, including competitor positioning. Plans, coordinates, and prepares both routine and special requested reports, surveys, research information, and presentations related to departmental work activities Reports all important business decisions to manager and provides updates as requested. Also, responds to other managers’ requests for information and assistance. Other and Miscellaneous Provides technical instruction and recommendations to Engineering Staff as needed Plans, prepares, and gives presentations to customers, trade shows, meetings, etc. Performs special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management Reports all irregular issues and problems to supervisor for resolution Conducts measurements of parts and customer packages Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) from a four‑year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Skills Five years experience in mechanical design in semiconductor industry Extensive working knowledge of CAD systems, specifically IDEAS, and Solidworks Any previous experience and understanding with Burn‑in, Test sockets and Thermal would be valuable Working knowledge of general lab equipment Preferred Skills Ability to provide accurate data and reports with few mistakes, low error rate Ability to perform critical or minute examination of facts or data to develop a hypothesis, theory, or conclusion Ability to accomplish work tasks through concern for all areas involved, no matter how small the details are Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information Ability to divide work and dispatch it to others for successful completion Ability to successfully negotiate while exercising tact in dealing with internal and external personnel, customers, and others, especially while under pressure Ability to provide clear expression of ideas in written English and in good grammatical form Ability to successfully change one’s behavior to match different situations, environments, tasks, responsibilities, or people Ability to begin follow‑through energetically with a plan or task on a consistent basis Developing courses of action and making sound and mature business decisions based on factual information, logic, experience, and intuition Ability to listen and understand for problem solving Ability to productively work with numbers and accurately perform arithmetical, algebraic, or geometric calculations Ability to scrutinize or systematically check work activities or direct changes Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time Ability to effectively present conceptual or factual information Ability to use typical office equipment (e.g., computer, calculator, fax, copier, etc.) Ability to use a personal computer for business applications, such as word processing, financial spreadsheets, presentations, charts, etc. Ability to establish a course of action for oneself or for others to accomplish to attain a specific goal Ability to effectively express information, ideas, and concepts formally to groups of people An understanding of the Company’s products and/or services Ability to successfully plan and execute complex projects, including establishment of schedules, budgets, human resources, and capital resources Ability to integrate into a group and hand individual responsibilities and task while maintaining focus on desired results Ability to understand, use, and apply specific technical information related to the Company’s products and services Ability to develop and execute projects and task schedules effectively and consistently, especially while operating under deadlines or with interruptions Ability to work effectively with others for a common objective Equal Opportunity Statement We are an equal opportunity employer.
