Your Specific Responsibilities:
We are seeking motivated individuals to join our dynamic team in the Reemployment Assistance (RA) program. The Reemployment Assistance Program , also known as unemployment insurance, offers temporary financial assistance to individuals who have lost their job, been furloughed, or had their hours reduced through no fault of their own. The program in partnership with the Career Source provides job search resources, resume assistance, and labor market information to help claimants return to work quickly. Join a team that makes a difference. We are offering a dual-path training and development program that will lead to a career in either our Customer Contact Center or the Adjudication Bureau. This position is advertised as an Employment Security Representative I and includes a comprehensive, structured training program.
Selected candidates will begin at a training rate of $19.00 per hour for an initial 12-week training period. Upon successful completion of the training program and meeting all performance benchmarks, your compensation will increase to the full standard rate, and you will be assigned to one of two specialized operational units based on agency needs:
- Customer Contact Center Bureau (Employment Security Representative I): Standard rate of $20.00 per hour. Focuses on front-line customer support, claim navigation, and high-volume public inquiry resolution.
- Adjudication Bureau (Employment Security Representative II): Standard rate of $20.70 per hour. Focuses on complex claim investigations, fact-finding, and issuing formal eligibility determinations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
During the Training Period (All Candidates):
- Participate fully in classroom and practical training covering employment services policies, laws, and systems.
- Meet weekly performance benchmarks and operational knowledge assessments.
- Learn to navigate internal databases and document management systems accurately.
- Adhere to schedule and maintain regular and punctual attendance during initial training period.
Contact Center (Employment Security Representative I) Placement Duties:
- Provide high-quality customer service by answering incoming calls, emails, and online inquiries from claimants and employers.
- Assist users with account creation, application navigation, and general troubleshooting.
- Identify claimant needs, answer routine policy questions, and route complex issues to senior staff.
- Document all customer interactions accurately within the tracking system.
Adjudication (Employment Security Representative II) Placement Duties:
- Review claimant and employer statements, supporting documentation, employment records, and other relevant materials to determine eligibility for Reemployment Assistance benefits.
- Conduct fact‑finding interviews with claimants and employers to gather objective, comprehensive, and verifiable information.
- Apply applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and RA program guidelines to evaluate eligibility and issue accurate and timely determinations.

The Work You Will Do:
This is an OPS Employment Security Representative position in the Department of Commerce’s Reemployment Assistance Program. Job duties focus on front-line customer support, claim navigation, and high-volume public inquiry resolution. Providing quality customer service using a variety of methods, reviewing claimant and employer information, and applying laws and policies to determine the eligibility of reemployment assistance claims using the CONNECT system. This includes gathering claimant and employer information, reviewing documentation, assessing claims, knowledge and application of Florida Reemployment Assistance Program Rules and State/Federal Laws, and completing work efficiently while adhering to compliance standards.
