How you'll contribute Receives inquiry calls and assists with scheduling face‑to‑face, phone, or tele‑assessment and triages individuals based on safety risk. Assesses or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional for patients who present for assessment. Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions. Performs a comprehensive assessment and provides quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on‑call physician to ensure needs are met at the facility or other appropriate community providers. Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment. Completes administrative processes of admission and pre‑certification of care with external payers, as necessary. Job Responsibilities Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, assessment, referral process, designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow‑up activity. Conducts initial evaluation, initiates assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously. Possesses clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA. Maintains all pre‑admission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre‑certification with insurance companies. Qualifications and Requirements Education: Master’s degree in social work or counseling required. Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred; must have strong clinical assessment skills. License: Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state of practice guidelines. RN license may be accepted but may vary based on the state. Valid driver’s license and favorable MVR, along with proof of insurance when using own auto. Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI certified within 30 days. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime and have the ability to meet typing keyboard expectations.
