Chief Technology Officer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief Technology Officer based in United States.

This is a pivotal executive leadership opportunity to define and execute the technology strategy for a rapidly scaling SaaS organization.
The CTO will own engineering vision, architecture, platform stability, and technical execution while leading a globally distributed organization.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will translate business priorities into a clear, multi-year technology roadmap.
The role combines deep technical leadership with organizational development, operational excellence, security, and financial accountability.
You will partner closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and executive leadership to accelerate innovation and deliver reliable customer experiences.
A key priority will be strengthening distributed collaboration across U.S. and India-based engineering teams while building a strong leadership bench.
This role is ideal for a technology executive who can balance strategic vision, hands-on architectural judgment, business impact, and organizational scale.

Accountabilities

• Define and own the multi-year technology roadmap and architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and executive priorities.
• Evaluate and evolve the technology stack to support scalability, security, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Champion platform stability, resilience, and engineering quality as core priorities across the organization.
• Lead build-versus-buy decisions, technology evaluations, and strategic vendor and technology partnerships.
• Develop strategies for maintaining, modernizing, migrating, or replacing legacy platforms while supporting business and profitability objectives.
• Lead a globally distributed engineering organization across the United States and India, fostering strong collaboration, communication, and accountability.
• Recruit, develop, retain, and motivate engineering talent while building a strong and sustainable leadership pipeline.
• Establish and continuously improve engineering practices covering code quality, testing, CI/CD, incident response, security, and operational excellence.
• Partner with Product leadership on roadmap prioritization, technical feasibility, architecture decisions, and delivery planning.
• Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success on technical escalations, enterprise requirements, and complex customer needs.
• Represent Engineering in executive leadership planning, budgeting, strategic initiatives, and board-level discussions.
• Define and monitor engineering KPIs, including uptime, reliability, delivery velocity, technical debt, defect rates, and AI utilization.
• Oversee security and compliance activities, including SOC 2 audits, penetration testing, privacy requirements, and relevant SaaS regulations.
• Manage engineering budgets, SaaS platform margins, headcount planning, and vendor contracts.
• Drive the responsible adoption of AI across engineering and product development, including scaling AI/ML-powered product capabilities.
• Establish a technical roadmap that improves platform stability, strengthens global engineering collaboration, and supports long-term organizational growth.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in senior technology leadership roles such as CTO or an equivalent executive position within a SaaS organization.
• Proven experience leading distributed or global engineering organizations, ideally with teams based across the United States and India.
• Demonstrated success scaling engineering organizations through significant growth stages, particularly within startup or mid-market SaaS environments.
• Strong track record developing and implementing technology strategies that connect engineering priorities with broader business objectives.
• Demonstrated experience building or scaling AI/ML-powered product capabilities and driving practical AI adoption within engineering organizations.
• Deep technical foundation in modern web architecture, cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, APIs, distributed systems, and data security.
• Experience establishing engineering standards and practices around software quality, testing, CI/CD, reliability, incident management, and security.
• Strong understanding of platform modernization, legacy migration, major re-architecture initiatives, or technical transformation programs.
• Experience partnering directly with CEOs, executive leadership teams, boards, and other senior stakeholders on business and technology strategy.
• Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business implications and decisions.
• Strong organizational, financial, and operational management capabilities, including experience with budgets, headcount planning, vendors, and technology investments.
• Experience with M&A technical due diligence, platform migrations, or major re-architecture projects is a plus.
• Ability to lead through change, build trust across distributed teams, and create a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
