Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg / Telemetry

Location: Baptist Health Lexington – Lexington, Kentucky

Schedule

• Shift: Nights
• Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 3 x 12-Hour Shifts
• Hours: 36 Hours per Week
• Weekend Requirement: Approximately 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Unit Information

5G/H Med Surg Telemetry Unit – 42 Beds

This specialized telemetry unit cares for medically complex patients with multiple comorbidities and serves as a transition unit for patients admitted from the ICU, Emergency Department, and PACU. The unit frequently manages:

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring patients
• Complex medical-surgical cases
• Palliative care patients
• Colorectal surgery patients utilizing ERAS protocols
• MDRO (Multi-Drug Resistant Organism) patients
• Post-ICU and post-operative patient populations

Job Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Monitor and care for Med Surg and Telemetry patients.
• Administer medications, treatments, and nursing interventions according to physician orders.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
• Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Delegate and supervise patient care activities as appropriate.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.

Requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) required
• BSN preferred

Certifications & Licensure

• Active Kentucky RN License (or compact state license if applicable)
• BLS Certification (AHA)

Experience

• Previous Med Surg / Telemetry experience preferred
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment
