Job Description

Requirements:

Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
BLS certification required; ACLS preferred depending on facility
CNN (Certified Nephrology Nurse) or CDN (Certified Dialysis Nurse) preferred
1+ years of dialysis experience required
Experience with hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis procedures and equipment

Duties:

Provide nursing care and monitoring to patients undergoing hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis treatments
Assess patients pre-, during, and post-dialysis, monitoring vital signs and fluid status
Initiate and manage dialysis treatment, including vascular access (fistula, graft, catheter) care
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders during dialysis sessions
Respond to complications (hypotension, cramping, access issues) with appropriate interventions
Educate patients and families on renal disease management, dietary restrictions, and treatment adherence
Collaborate with nephrologists, dieticians, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient response in the EMR
Maintain and troubleshoot dialysis equipment, ensuring proper function and infection control
Monitor lab values and treatment outcomes, adjusting care plan as needed
