Full Time Shelbyville, KY, US Job Summary The Engineering Change & Inventory Coordinator is a pivotal role within the MP&L organization, responsible for ensuring that the plant’s digital systems (SAP/Plex) perfectly mirror the physical reality of the shop floor. Reporting directly to the MP&L Manager, you will lead the implementation of engineering changes and manage the inventory integrity program. You will work in lockstep with the Production Control Coordinator (PCC) to synchronize "Serial Life" part transitions and "Model Year" launches, ensuring zero production interruptions and minimized obsolescence. Key Responsibilities Engineering Change & Launch Management (Serial Life & MY) WERS to SAP/Plex Integration: Translate engineering releases from WERS into the plant’s execution systems. Ensure the SAP Bill of Materials (BOM) and Plex control plans are updated for every engineering change. Production Control Partnership: Collaborate daily with the Production Control Coordinator (PCC) to align engineering "break-points" with the production schedule. Coordinate the timing of part "In-runs" and "Out-runs" for Model Year (MY) launches. Launch Readiness: Act as the MP&L lead for new part introductions during launches. Ensure all new part numbers are active in SAP/Plex, storage locations are assigned, and scanning protocols are established before Job 1. Engineering Stop-Ships/Alerts Facilitate the immediate containment of parts in the event of an engineering "Stop-Ship" or quality alert, updating system statuses in real-time to prevent usage. Inventory Control & Cycle Count Supervision Team Leadership: Supervise and develop the Cycle Count team. Establish daily count schedules based on high-value items, critical parts, and recent engineering changes. GIC Compliance: Ensure the plant meets all Global Inventory Control (GIC) requirements. Conduct root‑cause analysis on inventory variances and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. System Reconciliation: Perform regular audits to ensure SAP (financial/planning system) and Plex (shop‑floor MES) remain synchronized. Investigate and resolve data "lag" or interface errors between the two systems. Obsolescence Mitigation: Monitor "Serial Life" changes to ensure old‑level stock is exhausted. Work with Finance and the MP&L Manager to process scrap authorizations for obsolete materials resulting from engineering changes. Operational Support Floor Presence: Spend significant time on the plant floor (Stamping/Powertrain) to verify physical stock levels, container labeling, and point‑of‑use (POU) accuracy. KPI Reporting: Maintain and report out on key metrics, including Inventory Accuracy, Engineering Change Lead Time, and Obsolescence Costs. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or Engineering. Experience: 3-5 years in a automotive manufacturing environment preferred with a focus on MP&L or Production Control. SAP (S/4HANA): Deep knowledge of Material Management (MM) and Production Planning (PP) modules. Plex (MES): Proficiency in inventory tracking, container management, and production reporting. WER/DDL/GPRIS: Ability to interpret engineering releases, part substitutions, and "usage" codes. Leadership: Proven experience supervising hourly personnel and managing team performance. Core Competencies Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work seamlessly with the PCC to balance engineering requirements with production stability. Analytical Precision: A "data-first" approach to problem-solving, with the ability to reconcile complex inventory discrepancies. Adaptability: Ability to manage the high‑pressure environment of a Model Year launch while maintaining the discipline of "Serial Life" inventory counts. Preferred Ford‑Specific Knowledge Knowledge of CMMS (for stamping die/spare parts inventory). Familiarity with Ford Production System (FPS)—specifically the "Material Flow" and "Internal Logistics" segments. Experience with VPP (Vehicle Program Product) for tracking launch‑specific milestones. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
