Director of Teacher Development
Role Mission:
To ensure that every IDEA student is taught by an exceptional teacher, the Director of Teacher Development works to provide high-quality professional development that leads to increased student achievement and teacher retention. This role directly manages the system for Beginning of the Year Professional Development, GET certification, and Teacher Leader Trainings: GTL Training Point Person, Teacher Advisory Coordinator and Accelerate to API.

Location:
This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth). However living in Texas is not required.
Travel Expectations:
In this role, you are expected to be in-field at least twice a month.
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
· Set the vision and manage execution of Beginning of Year PD for teachers by partnering with Chief Area teams for content and regional teams for logistics and implementation.
· Conduct in-field observations and pulse checks of teachers to inform impact of teacher training.
· Create regular communication mechanisms with managers of program participants to ensure they understand key program content, intended impact on their direct report, and requirements or recommendations for in-field follow up.
· Set and execute vision for Teacher Leadership Trainings such as GTL training and Teacher Advisory Council.
· Analyze and utilize data to continuously improve training programs, teacher leader effectiveness, and overall systems to support organizational goals related to teacher leadership and retention.
· Update GET certification modules, as needed, and ensure that all required participants become GET certified.
· Create resources and tools in partnership with AST and student support team to support with the designing and training of teacher best practices.

Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelors Degree
· 3 years of teaching
· 3 years of teacher leadership or managing teachers

Physical Requirements:
· The ability to move throughout a school building, including outdoor spaces, shared indoor spaces, and classrooms
· The ability to engage in virtual meetings and work remotely
· The ability to travel to and from campus and regional training locations.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $98,200 and $115,900, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
