Basic Job Functions: Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, a division of Nucor, the nation's largest recycler and largest manufacturer of steel and steel products, is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Engineering Manager at our business unit located in Rock Hill, SC. Specific job responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Lead a team of Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers to provide quotes, designs, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, or other utility structures; primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories.
- This position reports to the Director of the Engineering Department.
- Interview and hire new teammates to build the team.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to teammates.
- Ensure consistent application of current design policies, procedures, and practices.
- Manage the team's priorities and set expectations.
- Guide teammates to deliver quality work, on time, with consistent results.
- Be active within Division leadership team to drive continuous improvement and overall success of the business.
- Support sales team through customer interactions, promoting our value proposition and cultivating deeper partnerships.
- Make decisions with other engineering department leaders to provide safe and competitive product designs.
- Travel is required to visit customers, support plants, exhibit at trade shows, and more.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
- Prior leadership experience
- 2+ years of utility pole/tower structures industry experience
- 2+ years steel products design or structural steel connection design experience
- Degree specifically with Structural emphasis
- Master's degree in engineering or business
- Willing to relocate for future advancement opportunities within Nucor
