Children’s Pastor/Minister/Director

KCCC is seeking a passionate and dedicated Children’s Pastor/Minister/Director to shepherd, lead and direct our children’s ministry. The candidate must have a heart for influencing and transforming children’s lives through the gospel of Christ. The candidate should be enthusiastic about working with children and possess a solid understanding of child development and age-appropriate ministry practices. A strong willingness and deep passion to build godly relationships with children and help them grow spiritually is essential. The Children’s Pastor/Minister/Director reports directly to the Sr. Pastor of KCCC. Qualifications Education: Bachelor or higher degree from a fully accredited Bible college or seminary is preferred. Will consider graduates with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from public colleges or universities. The position of Pastor, Minister or Director will depend upon candidate’s educational degree and/or experience. Language Ability: Must be fluent (read and write) in English; able to speak or understand Mandarin Chinese a plus. Experience: We are seeking a compassionate and discerning individual who understands the needs of children and families and is equipped to address their challenges effectively. The candidate must or should have experience working with both children and parents, be familiar with the Sunday School system, and possess strong knowledge of current children’s curricula available in the United States. Creativity, energy, and the ability to engage children are essential. An understanding of Asian American culture and prior experience in a multi-staff church setting are highly valued. Spiritual Gifts: Must be strong in teaching, caring, discipleship, training, leadership and team building, and capable in administration. Ministry Philosophy: Candidates should demonstrate a passionate and clear vision for children’s ministry that is consistent with KCCC’s mission. Must fully align with the Articles of Faith, church constitution, mission, and vision of KCCC. Ministry Style: Must be a person with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a team player who is comfortable functioning within the multi-staff, multi-lingual/cultural ethnic church environment. Positive attitude and positive approach to problem solving. Must be solution oriented. Primary Responsibilities Pastoring/Shepherding Shepherd children through teaching, care, discipleship, fellowship, counseling, relationship-building, and other supportive activities to nurture their spiritual growth. Provide leadership and guidance to the children’s ministry team—including teachers, ministry leaders, and co-workers—encouraging them to grow as disciples and faithful servants of our Lord Jesus Chirst. Inspire and equip the team to nurture spiritually strong children who faithfully follow Jesus. Provide pastoral care and support to children and their families, including baptism, visitation, and general spiritual care. Offer guidance and counsel to parents, partnering with them to nurture their children’s spiritual growth in Christ. Leadership Provide leadership and set direction for KCCC children’s ministry. Develop a dynamic leadership team to assist in leading the children’s ministry through providing resources and training and implementing appreciative strategies. Lead and build ministry teams to execute all aspects of children’s ministry for Sunday service and Friday night programs. Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of children, including but not limited to effective use of check-in and check-out technology. Recruit volunteers to provide administrative support for the Children’s ministry program. Work closely with Sr. Pastor and the church council in analyzing the effectiveness of the ministry and adjust as needed. Children’s Sunday School and Worship Service Faithfully teach children the Word of God and guide them in worship through modeling, active participation, and making biblical truths relevant to their daily lives. Direct and oversee the children’s Sunday school, and the children’s worship service including selecting curriculum and teaching resources. Initiate and coordinate trainings to equip, inspire, and mobilize volunteers to become competent children’s workers who can make an impact for Christ. Friday Night Children’s Program Incorporate an active outreach component within the Friday Night Children’s program. Train teachers and co-workers for the Friday Night Children’s program. Coordinate volunteers from small groups to support the teachers and co-workers for the Friday Night Children’s program. Family Ministry Partner with the Family Ministry team to support families at KCCC by equipping parents to strengthen their parenting skills and deepen their relationships with their children. This includes offering parenting workshops and providing resources that help parents nurture their children's spiritual and emotional growth. Other Duties Use effective modes of communication including emails, website, newsletters, regularly scheduled parent teacher meetings, etc., designed to keep families engaged and informed of current programs, projects, and opportunities. Oversee the planning and execution of children's programs for special events, including camps, retreats, outreach activities, and church-wide gatherings. Plan, organize, staff, and coordinate dynamic summer programs such as Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Junior Missionary Training Camp to engage children in meaningful spiritual experiences. Attend monthly council meeting and weekly pastoral staff team meeting. Share administrative duties assigned within the pastoral staff team.
