Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Supervisor

Pinnacle Health Medical Services is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Supervisor to help support UPMC Grandview Surgical Associates General Surgery.

Hours: Monday-Friday - 8 hr shifts

Location: 225 Grandview Avenue, Camp Hill PA 17011

Position Specifics: UPMC is seeking a Supervisor Advanced Practice Provider (CRNP or PA) to support the General Surgery team at UPMC Grandview Surgical Associates. This is a hybrid clinical and leadership role with a primary focus on inpatient care, including daily rounding, acute patient management, and assisting in the operating room. The Lead APP will play a key role in clinical operations, APP team development, and program growth, while collaborating closely with physicians, residents, and operational leadership.

Department Details: This is a growing surgical service line with: 10 physicians (+2 in Carlisle) 7 Advanced Practice Providers Active resident involvement The team provides inpatient, outpatient, and consultative care across multiple hospitals, including a high-volume acute care service at Harrisburg and West Shore, with continued expansion to Carlisle. We emphasize collaboration, efficiency, and continuous program growth.

The Supervisor, APP is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Supervisor, APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Supervisor, APP coordinates and oversees all physician assistant and certified nurse practitioner functions. The Supervisor, APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Supervisor, APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Supervisor, APP encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Supervisor, APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Responsibilities Provide high-quality inpatient surgical care, including rounding, consults, and acute patient management Assist in the operating room (robotic experience/training required) Collaborate with surgeons, residents, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes Support care coordination across multiple hospital sitesLeadership & Operational Responsibilities Supervise and support APP staff, including performance evaluations and day-to-day oversight Lead APP onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development Partner with leadership on recruitment, retention, and staffing strategies Ensure compliance with documentation, coding, licensure, and regulatory standards Serve as a liaison between APPs, physicians, and leadership Promote consistent workflows, quality outcomes, and operational efficiency Assist with clinical problem-solving and issue resolution across sites

Special Skills and Abilities Required

• In addition to the responsibilities of the Supervisor, APP must meet the following criteria to achieve supervisor status:1. Must supervise 3 APPs.2. Must maintain clinical practice at least 25% of the time.3. Must precept at least 1 student per year.4. Must maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on annual performance evaluation to maintain status. Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of acceptable standards of practice. Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Qualifications - Experience Minimum 5 years of experience as a CRNP or PA required Three years of Surgical experience strongly required Prior leadership, supervisory, or preceptor experience preferred Experience working with resident teams highly desirable

Licensure & CertificationCRNP: Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program Current PA RN license and CRNP certification National certification requiredPA: Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program Current PA license and NCCPA certificationFor all candidates: Current CPR certification (ACLS/PALS as applicable within 30 days of hire) All required clearances (Act 33, 34, 73) Eligibility for hospital privileges
