About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Pending License accepted Certifications: ACLS BLS PALS CAPA or CPAN certification preferred Must-Have: Critical care experience Experience with EPIC charting system Description: Position involves pre and post-operative care in the PACU. The average daily census is 30 OR and 30 endoscopic cases. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM. First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. No weekend requirements. Staff may float within their scope to meet facility needs. The patient ratio is 1:2 in Phase I and 1:3 in Phase II. Special procedures and skills required include dysrhythmia recognition and management, handling of bodily fluids with instilled chemotherapy, and management of pain pumps and epidural catheters. The population served includes adolescents and adults with a variety of diagnoses. The unit supports joint replacements, orthopedic procedures, urology, plastics, colorectal surgeries, and various oncology procedures. Staff may be required to float to an off-site surgical center as needed, although this occurs rarely. Proper documentation and compliance with organizational standards are mandatory.
