Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

·        Manages and oversees programs at the area and local levels in Area’s 1, 3, 4, 6 and 10. (5 Area’s)

·        Responsible for assisting in the collection, reviewing, data entry and maintenance of paperwork for all State Games in the following Area’s: 3, 6.

·        Responsible for activating and tracking the Young Athlete and Head Start Programs in assigned areas.

·        Attends one GOC meeting annually for Winter Games, Summer and Fall Games.

·        Write submit and notate 4 grants weekly and receives funding from 2.

·        Schedule and make 6 annual presentations with a Global Messenger by December 1st.     

·        Run the athlete numbers for the weekly/monthly athlete count.

·        Attends the Annual Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Conference with a SOGA athlete and presents an Award and gives winning agency SOGA items.

·        Assists programs, management teams, outreach, accreditation, competitions, paperwork, training, evaluation and other duties as needed.

·        Responsible for troubleshooting problems that arise in the designated areas and Statewide.

·        Speaks at public events, participates at event booths, coordinates mailings, TV and radio ads as needed.

·        Evaluates local/area competitions, meetings and progress of agencies.

·        Responsible for communicating with and the training of the Local Coordinators and Management Team members.

·        Responsible for Outreach by developing and registering programs, recruiting/registering athletes, families, volunteers and unified sports partners.

·        Responsible for promoting, strengthening and increasing the number of accredited programs.

·        Supports the Program Department activities.

·        Implement Strategic and other SOGA driven plans as it coincides with your position and with your department.

·        Update Special Olympics Georgia statistics page monthly.

·        Send agency roster monthly.

·        Some travel as well as night and weekend commitments as needed.

·        Supports state games and events as needed.

·        Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

4-year College degree in sports related field. Special Olympics experience a plus.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general sports periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports and contractual documents.  Ability to write concise reports, business correspondence, and newsletter articles.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions/complaints from coordinators, coaches, family members, volunteers, business contacts or the general public. 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect needed information and data, analyze information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to handle the demands and stress pertaining to duties and responsibilities associated with the position.

Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Publisher

Physical Demands:

The SOGA Team Member is frequently required to lift 50 pounds or more.
