Scalehouse Attendant

Pay: $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Every other Saturday: 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM

• Overtime may be required as needed

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Scalehouse Attendant to join our team at Blackfoot Landfill in Winslow, IN. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers entering the landfill and is responsible for weighing incoming loads, processing payments, completing administrative tasks, and ensuring a safe environment for customers and employees.

This is a temporary-to-hire opportunity for the right candidate based on attendance, dependability, and overall work performance.

Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and direct traffic safely through the facility

• Process customer transactions, including credit card payments

• Accurately calculate fees for incoming waste loads

• Inspect incoming loads to ensure prohibited materials are not accepted

• Maintain accurate records, reports, and filing

• Perform data entry and other administrative duties

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the scalehouse

• Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements

• Communicate any issues or concerns to the supervisor promptly

• Attend required training and meetings

• Provide friendly, professional customer service to customers, vendors, and coworkers

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED

• Basic computer skills

• Experience using:

  • Microsoft Outlook

  • Microsoft Teams

  • Microsoft Excel

• Ability to process credit card payments accurately

• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic

Preferred:

• Previous administrative, cashier, customer service, or scalehouse experience

Physical & Work Environment

• Work is performed in a scalehouse at an active landfill

• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, odors, and dirt

• Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds

• Frequent keyboarding and data entry

• Must follow all safety policies and procedures

Requirements

• 6-inch steel-toe boots are required.

• Must be able to work the scheduled hours, including every other Saturday.

• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
