Senior Mechanical Packaging Engineer Location: Columbia, MD Salary: $110,000 - $160,000 Shape the Future of Aerospace and Avionics Engineering Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with experience designing ruggedized electronic and electrical systems? Join an innovative engineering team where you'll lead the development of advanced mechanical packaging solutions for aerospace and aviation applications, taking projects from concept through production and testing. Key Responsibilities Design lightweight mechanical packaging and enclosures for electrical and electronic assemblies used in demanding aerospace environments. Develop solutions for space‑constrained systems exposed to atmospheric conditions and high electromagnetic interference (EMI). Perform structural and thermal analysis to validate designs and ensure performance requirements are met. Collaborate with Electrical Engineering teams to define mechanical requirements and create packaging concepts, layouts, and detailed designs. Support prototype builds, manufacturing integration, testing, and first‑article production activities. Participate in design reviews and customer presentations, ensuring compliance with technical and program requirements. Create and maintain production‑ready engineering documentation, drawings, and specifications. Work closely with cross‑functional teams to improve manufacturability, quality, and product performance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience; advanced degrees may be considered in lieu of some experience. Experience designing mechanical packaging for electrical/electronic assemblies, preferably within aerospace, aviation, defense, or other high‑reliability industries. Strong background in manufacturing support, product development, and engineering documentation. Excellent communication and presentation skills.Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
