MEC Aerial Work Platforms is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable Specialist to support daily accounting operations. This blended role is responsible for processing customer payments, vendor invoices, reconciliations, collections support, and maintaining accurate financial records while providing excellent internal and external customer service.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable Functions

• Generate and distribute customer invoices and statements
• Post customer payments including checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit card transactions
• Monitor aging reports and follow up on past-due accounts professionally and timely
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
• Assist with credit applications and account setup
• Maintain accurate AR records and documentation

Accounts Payable Functions

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices accurately and timely
• Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
• Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments
• Maintain vendor files including W-9 documentation and payment terms
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies
• Assist with year-end 1099 preparation and reporting

General Accounting & Administrative Support

• Assist with month-end closing activities and reconciliations
• Support audits and financial reporting requests
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information
• Communicate professionally with vendors, customers, and internal departments
• Follow company policies, accounting procedures, and internal controls
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or general accounting experience preferred
• Manufacturing or industrial environment experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically

Compensation

The anticipated pay range for this position is $25.00 $34.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location within California.
