Medical Science Liaison, Molecular Imaging (Cardiac Amyloidosis) - West Coast
At Bayer, we believe work should matter. Every day, our teams push toward a future where "Health for all, Hunger for none" is within reach, and every role, from the lab to the field to the boardroom, helps us get there. We give people the ownership to shape outcomes, the support to grow through new skills and experiences, and a global community where different perspectives are valued. If you want your work to count and the room to become your best, you'll find it here.
Bayer is seeking a field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to serve as a credible scientific partner to healthcare professionals across a designated U.S. territory. The role is anchored in Molecular Imaging (Cardiac Amyloidosis) while supporting compliant scientific exchange across the multidisciplinary amyloidosis ecosystem, including cardiology, hematology/oncology, nuclear medicine, radiology, and integrated amyloidosis centers.
The MSL will build durable peer-to-peer relationships, generate actionable field insights, advance understanding of systemic and cardiac amyloidosis and its diagnostic pathway, support evidence-generation activities, and contribute to launch related field capability and institutional readiness. This is a field execution role focused on scientific engagement, insight generation, and cross-functional follow-through.
This position will focus on the West Coast (CA, OR, WA). Candidates should be domiciled within the Territory.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role, Medical Science Liaison, Molecular Imaging (Cardiac Amyloidosis)-West, are to:
Scientific Exchange and Strategic Relationships
- Identify, develop, and maintain compliant, high-value scientific relationships with cardiologists, heart-failure specialists, hematologists/oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, amyloidosis-center leaders, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct balanced, peer-to-peer scientific exchange on systemic and cardiac amyloidosis, diagnostic pathways, clinical evidence, and investigational data in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.
- Deliver scientific presentations and disease-state education to appropriate healthcare professional and institutional audiences using approved resources.
- Execute a territory engagement plan that prioritizes relationship depth, multidisciplinary institutional reach, and meaningful follow-up.
Field Insights and Medical Strategy
- Gather, document, and communicate timely, high-quality insights on diagnostic and referral pathways, evidence gaps, educational needs, operational readiness, access themes, and barriers to adoption.
- Convert field observations into clearly framed insights that can inform Medical strategy, educational planning, evidence priorities, launch preparedness, and cross-functional action.
- Map the current diagnostic pathway and key decision points at priority institutions, including the roles of referring clinicians, imagers, readers, technologists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Use approved systems to document engagements, insights, follow-up, and territory-plan progress.
Disease Awareness and Diagnostic-Pathway Development
- Advance scientific understanding of systemic and cardiac amyloidosis, including unmet needs associated with underdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, and complex referral pathways.
- Identify institution-specific educational needs and support approved disease-state initiatives, advisory boards, congress activities, and other Medical Affairs programs.
- Engage stakeholders across cardiology, hematology/oncology, nuclear medicine, and radiology to develop a medically grounded view of how patients move through suspicion, referral, imaging, diagnosis, and follow-up.
Evidence Generation and Research Support
- Support Bayer-sponsored research activities as appropriate, including investigator and site engagement, site identification, and scientific follow-up.
- Identify and appropriately triage investigator-initiated research concepts and evidence gaps through established Medical Affairs processes.
- Contribute to assigned evidence-generation, publication, congress, medical-resource, or advisory-board workstreams, with clear documentation and follow-through.
Priority-Center and Readiness Support
- Develop a medically grounded view of priority-center readiness and identify gaps related to referral pathways, scientific understanding, readers, technologists, workflow, or infrastructure that require cross-functional follow-up.
- Route identified readiness gaps to the appropriate accountable function and monitor follow-up through approved processes.
- Collaborate with Molecular Imaging Specialists and other authorized partners while maintaining clear role boundaries. The MSL remains accountable for scientific exchange and medical strategy; technical protocol implementation and scanner-specific execution remain with the appropriately designated technical roles.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Compliance
- Collaborate effectively with Medical Information, Medical Communications, HEOR/RWE, Commercial (Sales and Marketing), Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, and other relevant cross-functional partners to support Medical Affairs objectives, in full compliance with Bayer policies, SOPs, work instructions, and applicable compliance requirements.
- Support internal scientific training on disease state, diagnostic pathways, and clinical evidence as requested.
- Complete required trainings and certifications, use approved materials and systems, escalate compliance questions promptly, and conduct all activities in line with Bayer policies, FDA requirements, OIG guidance, the PhRMA Code, and applicable laws.

- Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and communicate complex clinical and scientific data to expert audiences.
- Working knowledge of the compliance requirements governing scientific exchange in the United States.
- Strong presentation, relationship-building, territory-management, insight-generation, and self-management skills in a remote field role.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, residence within the assigned territory near a major airport, and ability to travel 50-70%, including overnight travel and occasional weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Established scientific relationships with cardiologists, heart-failure specialists, amyloidosis centers, nuclear cardiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, hematologists/oncologists, or multidisciplinary amyloidosis teams in the territory.
- Experience supporting a pre-launch or launch-stage product, particularly in a first-in-class, diagnostic, molecular-imaging, or radiopharmaceutical environment.
- Working knowledge of systemic amyloidosis, including ATTR and AL pathways, and the roles of imaging, laboratory assessment, biopsy, specialist referral, and multidisciplinary care.
- Experience gathering actionable insights, mapping diagnostic or referral pathways, and supporting evidence-generation or investigator-initiated research programs.
- Experience collaborating across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, HEOR/RWE, Market Access, Regulatory, Medical Information, and technical field functions.
- Familiarity with CRM and insight-capture platforms such as Veeva.
Core Competencies:
- Scientific credibility and curiosity across cardiovascular medicine, amyloidosis, and molecular imaging.
- Strategic insight generation: translates field conversations into clear, actionable implications for Medical strategy and launch preparedness.
- Multidisciplinary engagement: connects stakeholders across referral, diagnosis, imaging, and care delivery without losing scientific depth.
- Execution discipline: plans territory activity, documents follow-up, and delivers assigned workstreams reliably.
- Integrity and sound judgment in a regulated, pre-launch environment.
- Adaptability, ownership, and collaboration in a remote, rapidly evolving field role.
