Behavioral Health Technician RN

Position Overview

This position is focused on providing essential care within the Behavioral Health Unit. The role requires individuals who are committed to supporting patients with mental health needs through comprehensive assessments and personalized care plans.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: ACT - 10, BHU - 14
• Staffing:
  
  
  • Day Shift: 1 RN, 1 Behavior Health Technician
  • Night Shift: 1 RN, 1 Behavior Health Technician
• Patient Ratios: ACT 1:5, BHU 1:7
• Equipment: Welch Allyn Vital Signs Machines, Bladder Scanner, Basic Equipment (Thermometers, Glucometers, etc.)
• EMR System: Meditech Magic

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments and develop care strategies
• Administer medications and monitor patient labs
• Conduct glucose checks as part of daily monitoring
• Implement trauma-informed care principles when interacting with patients

Qualifications

• Required Certifications:
  
  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  
  • Experience in Trauma Informed Care
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant healthcare setting

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
• Weekend rotation required

Dress Code

Scrubs should be navy in color.

Floating Areas

This position may require floating between various units, including Alcohol and Chemical Treatment (ACT) and the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU).
