Maintenance Planner

I&E PlannerThe I&E Planner is responsible for screening work orders, identifying scope and performing analysis of required level of planning. This position interacts with other Maintenance personnel and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.Key Objectives And ResponsibilitiesResponsible for initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planningConducts field walk downs to identify and document job requirements.Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed workMake safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out procedures available to employees; ensure that all aspects of the existing company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan.Estimates required hours for each work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required to perform each taskPlans jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforceDetermines and includes QA/QC requirements on jobsProcures equipment and specialized tools required to perform workGathers necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawingsProvides budgetary estimates for work packages that fall within 10-15%Writes clear and concise work packages & proceduresPlans parts for all projects to increase "wrench time" and maximize efficiencyCompiles information into a job package that is ready for skilled trades – clearly communicates with skilled trades regarding critical steps in the processPrints and delivers work orders to the skilled trades in conjunction with the weekly work schedule.Upon completion of jobs, communication with skilled trades regarding ideas and procedures that would make future jobs more efficientCoordinates priority setting with the management team – places specific emphasis on obtaining the input of operations personnel in the setting of prioritiesKeeps bills of materials currentMeasure the I&E backlog in its various forms and continually always maintain no less than 2 weeks' worth of ready backlogResponsible, along with scheduler, for equipment and repair parts data entry and management.Ensure that equipment in MC status has Purchase orders assigned and tracking status of delivery datesWork with identified leaders to set priorities on which job needs to be planned firstEnsure estimator tools are used to plan jobs for accurate job lengthAdditional duties as assignedRequired Education/ExperiencesHigh school diploma or GED required.5+ years of experience as a Journeyman I&E Technician OR a Maintenance Planner in a heavy industrial environment (e.g., chemical, refining, power generation, manufacturing).Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation, electrical systems (low/medium voltage), motor controls, PLCs, and P&IDsDemonstrated ability to organize and plan tasksComputer skills required: JDE/SAP/Maximo experience: Spreadsheet and Microsoft (Excel, Word), Project Management Software (MS Project, etc.) Email (Outlook)Preferred Education/ExperiencesPrior supervisory experience highly preferredCompetenciesReads and interprets vendor manuals and drawingsCommunicates clearly and effectively with shop floor personnel, vendors, OEM suppliers, and management personnelPerforms some level of cost analysis and work within a structured budgetWrite detailed repair reportsDevelops and delivers a clear and concise presentation when requiredLearn and apply maintenance best practices.Self-Directed and motivated – Able to work towards specific goals and objectives with limited daily oversightDemonstration of Calumet Values – Safety, Environment & Social Responsibility, Teamwork, Ownership, Passion for Customers, and Excellence
