Job Description

Charlotte Pipe and Foundry is seeking a full-time Pipe Operator. This position is responsible for monitoring the extruder and down-stream equipment and make adjustments as required, assist Maintenance associates during changeovers. Also, weigh pipe, check quality of the pipe, and operate strapper tool to secure pipe on wood boards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Remove pipe from extruders.
• Inspect and identify poor quality pipe using micrometer, pie tape, etc.
• Package pipe per standards with strapping tool, weigh pipe and move to designated storage area with forklift.
• Keep work area up to 5S housekeeping standards including operating sweepers as necessary.
• Complete production quality records as required.
• Set up cooling tanks and make required adjustments.
• Assist operator or maintenance in repair of equipment and tool and die change.
• Perform minor repairs on pipe racks, printers, etc.
• Maintain constant state of alertness and ability to safely perform job duties.
• Constantly communicate with extruder operator

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required Ability to work 12 hour shifts (including weekends and holidays) Ability to work nights Submit to and successfully complete background check and pre-employment drug test Computer and mechanical ability preferred Excellent safety and attendance record Ability to provide personal hand tools
