Pickleball Coordinator

SUMMARY:

The Pickleball Coordinator is a part-time position responsible for delivering high-quality pickleball instruction and programming for participants at both JCC of Greater Baltimore locations. This role will lead and support a variety of on-site activities, including lessons, leagues, tournaments, and other pickleball programming. The Pickleball Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Fitness to ensure the program’s quality, consistency, growth, and overall participant experience.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Program Planning and Development – Maintains program quality, reliability, growth, and participant engagement Teach pickleball classes, private lessons, and clinics for youth, teens, and adults. Plan, organize, and administer pickleball leagues for youth, teens, and adults. Plan, organize, and administer pickleball tournaments for youth, teens, and adults. Assist with the planning, organization, implementation, and supervision of pickleball programs, leagues, clinics, and tournaments. Assist in developing and implementing policies, guidelines, evaluation processes, goals, and objectives for pickleball programming. Collaborate with the Senior Director of Fitness to develop and implement marketing strategies, including program descriptions, website content, communication plans, and the creation and distribution of promotional materials. Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of pickleball equipment, ensuring equipment is available, safe, and in good working condition, with support from the Senior Director of Fitness. Work evenings and weekends as needed to support program schedules, special events, leagues, tournaments, and other departmental needs. Follow and uphold all JCC and departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Customer and Member Services – Promotes a safe, welcoming, and positive participant experience Oversee and promote safe program operations, including risk management, participant safety, and the overall welfare of participants and facility users. Communicate with participants in a timely and professional manner through phone, email, and face-to-face interactions, particularly regarding private lessons, program scheduling, and other pickleball-related services. Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records, including attendance, waivers, registrations, league standings, and other required documentation. Build positive and professional relationships with participants to provide a welcoming, high-quality experience and encourage continued participation in pickleball programs. Respond to participant questions, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner, escalating issues to the appropriate JCC staff member when necessary. Support a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment that reflects the JCC’s commitment to excellent member and participant experiences.

WHO YOU ARE:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Pickleball-specific certifications, training, or relevant coursework preferred. Minimum of one year of experience teaching pickleball to groups of approximately 4–8 or more participants. Demonstrated experience teaching a variety of pickleball formats, including ongoing classes, private lessons, clinics, and one-time workshops. Ability to develop and deliver effective pickleball curriculum while adapting instruction to meet the needs and skill levels of participants and the community. Experience teaching and working with adults strongly preferred. Willingness and ability to train additional pickleball staff if needed. Strong knowledge of pickleball, sports programming, and recreational program administration preferred. Demonstrated ability to multitask, problem-solve, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work within established budget parameters. Creative and solution-oriented approach to addressing challenges and improving programming. Ability to adapt effectively to changing program needs, schedules, and environments. Ability to remain calm, professional, and confident when responding to challenging or stressful situations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with members, participants, and fellow staff. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming, inclusive, and positive participant experience. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as program needs require.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Must be physically capable of performing manual labor, work both indoors and outdoors and have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripherals, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus. Bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, or reaching above the head to store or retrieve materials.
