Job Description Summary MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics is a pediatric outpatient clinic operating under Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital at MUSC, now opening in the new MUSC Medical Office Building at 700 Buckwalter Towne Blvd in Bluffton. This location brings pediatric After Hours services to the Bluffton community for the first time. During daytime hours, the facility hosts a wide range of pediatric subspecialists, including pediatric gastroenterology, cardiology, and orthopedics, among others. We also provide walk‑in After Hours Care, which serves as an extension of the pediatric emergency department to support families during the times when most pediatric practices are closed. Specialty Clinics Hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. After Hours Clinic Open Hours Monday–Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Weekends, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Minimum Education and Requirements Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program with six months of patient care experience required. Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. Current CPR card required; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers card or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card. Demonstrate commitment to patient‑centered care philosophy through effective communication skills, professional demeanor, and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability and motivation to articulate and support departmental philosophy of excellent guest relations. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Computer literate. Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required. Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, work indoors, work outside in temperature extremes. Ability to work from elevated areas, confined/cramped spaces, kneeling positions, bend at the waist, twist at the waist, squat, pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping, fine manipulation, reach overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders. Ability to use both legs fully, lower extremities for balance and coordination, reach in all directions. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted, lift/lower 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs., exert up to 50 lbs. of force. Vision: maintain 20/40 corrected in one or both eyes; recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; discriminate colors; determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception; peripheral vision capabilities. Hearing: maintain hearing acuity with correction. Stress management: deal effectively with stressful situations. Work rotating shifts, overtime, latex safe environment, tactile sensory functions, olfactory sensory function (selected positions), respirator use qualification.
