Health Information Specialist I Location: 6133 Austin, TX. Employment: Full‑time regular. Datavant is the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare. This is an entry‑level position responsible for processing all release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. The Associate must safeguard patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations. Position Highlights Onsite, Austin, TX Full‑time, Mon‑Fri 8:00 AM‑4:30 PM Front‑desk processing of medical records requests and customer service duties Full benefits: PTO, health, vision, dental, 401(k) savings plan, tuition assistance Growth opportunities locally and nationwide What You Will Do Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies. Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information. Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software. Adhere to company and customer conduct codes and policies. Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes. Assist with additional duties as required. Apply medical privacy regulations consistently to guard against unauthorized disclosure. Manage patient health records. Safeguard patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance. Prepare new patient charts, gathering documents from paper or electronic sources. Ensure records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete. Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical record storage. Respond to requests for patient records both within and outside the facility. Answer inbound and outbound calls. Assist with patient walk‑ins. Assist with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry. Meet productivity expectations as outlined at site. Schedule pick‑ups when required. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Ability to commute between locations as needed. Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons. Basic computer proficiency. Comfortable using phones, fax machine, printers, and general office equipment. Professional verbal and written English communication skills. Detail‑oriented with a focus on accurate and compliant medical records. Strong data entry skills. Ability to work with minimum supervision and respond to changing priorities. Organizational and multitasking ability. Ability to respond quickly in a fast‑paced environment. Bonus Points Experience in a healthcare environment. Previous production/metric‑based work experience. In‑person customer service experience. Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers. Comfortable providing process improvement suggestions and feedback to stakeholders. To ensure the safety of patients and staff, several clients may require post‑offer health screenings and vaccinations such as flu shot, Tdap, COVID‑19, etc. Exemptions may be available on a case‑by‑case basis.
