Information Technology Teacher - BUES Beginning 2026-2027 School Year. Job Goal Help students learn subject matter, skills, attitudes and appreciations appropriate to their individual needs and levels of learning, contributing to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals. Discover and develop students’ special talents. Qualifications Possess appropriate certification and degree(s). Has knowledge of children based on both formal learning and/or practical experience. Other qualifications as determined by the School Committee. Performance Responsibilities Understands Child Growth and Development Maintain responsibility for relating teaching methods and materials to the growth and development of elementary school students. Consider the interest level and attention span of elementary school students in all learning activities. Make allowances for potential differences in intellectual maturity levels within class groups. Recognize symptoms of vastly superior and inferior pupil performance and seek appropriate referrals. Demonstrate the use of vocabulary appropriate to elementary school students. Use social, physical, mental and emotional traits as a basis for learning and teaching. Display initiative and creativity in providing learning activities. Planning and Evaluating Student Learning Plan for a long‑range and short‑range instructional program consistent with school/team/system curriculum. Develop a one‑day lesson plan for substitutes (activities or skills). Diagnose learning needs of students using appropriate instruments. Use results of unit or weekly assessments to continue or modify student learning and teacher plans. Provide instruction in the skills and processes necessary for learning the subject being taught. Inform students of long‑range and weekly goals or objectives. Ensure clear, objective and timely reports are offered to students and parents of student progress. Keep appropriate records, administer and use standardized tests and prepare progress reports. Use outside assignments to enrich and/or reinforce curriculum objectives. Classroom Management Organize the physical environment to provide basic comfort, health and safety of students. Provide a climate conducive to the lesson(s). Encourage students to assist in developing positive, reasonable, consistent rules of classroom behavior or self‑discipline. Conduct routine and clerical chores with efficiency, accuracy and promptness. Cooperate with the team(s) in sharing space and materials. Use the instructional program, where appropriate, to encourage citizenship and responsibility. Manage full use of class time for instruction/learning. Use community resources, where appropriate. Solicit help from parents, resource staff and administrators as aids to classroom management. Interpersonal Relationships Demonstrate and reinforce mutual respect among students. Use positive reinforcement and encouragement with students. Cooperate with fellow teachers, administrators, and other staff to maintain a positive school and system climate. Listen to and respect the opinions of other staff. Communicate effectively with staff and parents. Foster tolerance and understanding of ethnic, cultural, racial and religious differences. Professional Responsibilities Participate in curriculum development or review. Improve and maintain professional competence through in‑service, formal coursework and readings. Share ideas, materials and methods with colleagues. Protect confidentiality of information about pupils. Utilize prescribed district and association channels for solving problems or grievances constructively. Use oral and written English correctly in the exercise of the professional assignment. Accept, consider and use suggestions and criticisms in a responsive manner. Cooperate in the development and support of school and system policies. Personal Set a strong example of good hygiene and self‑control. Display a personal interest in students as individuals. Maintain good humor, enthusiasm, initiative and integrity with students, staff and parents. Cooperate with administrators, staff members, parents and pupils in developing and supporting school activities. Use good judgment in the exercise of authority.
