If you are ready to push the boundaries of aerospace engineering and leave a lasting legacy on the future of flight, your next chapter starts here.What You Will Do: Technical Leadership & Presentation: Lead multidisciplinary teams to tackle MSEN transmissions' top technical issues and seamlessly integrate gearbox designs, presenting key results to customers and executive leadership.Gear Design & Analysis: Perform comprehensive design and analysis on aerospace hardware across varied gear types (spur, helical, bevel, and spiral bevel) using automated tools, FEA, and precise hand calculations.Root Cause Investigation (RRCA): Spearhead transmission's root cause investigation teams—directing work, assigning/closing action items, and delivering findings to engineering leadership.Mentorship & Peer Review: Review team members' work and provide hands-on guidance to less experienced engineers with a specific focus on accelerating proficiency.Supplier Requirement Integration: Actively manage, align, and integrate the complex technical requirements of external suppliers holding design ownership.Full-Lifecycle Testing: Lead entire test programs, including rig development, test plan creation, instrumentation/limit selection, pre-test predictions, data post-processing, and reporting.Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing: Advance gear manufacturing readiness (hobbing, shaping, broaching, milling, heat treating, superfinishing) while improving ESW/EKS, analytical tools, and training materials.Travel Requirement: 10% (Domestic and International).What You Will Learn:Gain hands-on exposure to proprietary, next-generation propulsion technologies that are reshaping military aviation and sustainable commercial flight.Hone your ability to influence and collaborate directly with Pratt & Whitney program executives and global aerospace customers.Master and pioneer state-of-the-art analytical tools and digital thread integrations unique to Pratt & Whitney’s world-renowned engineering ecosystem.Qualifications You Must Have: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 10 years of gear design and analysis experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 7 years of gear design and analysis experience.At least 3 years of direct experience working with complex Mechanical Systems hardware with proven expertise in industry-standard tools for gear design and manufacturing.Qualifications We Prefer: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or actively pursuing an Advanced degree in a related field.An active U.S. Security Clearance.Exceptional communication, task coordination, and cross-functional leadership skills.Proficiency in Gleason Works software and Siemens NX.What We Offer:Relocation: Eligible for Relocation.Work Location: This position is work onsite at our East Hartford, CT campus (preferred location) or our West Palm Beach, FL campus.Learn More & Apply Now!Department/Segment Overview:Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Engineering (MSEN): MSEN is responsible for the design, development and in service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings gears and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.Please ensure the role type defined below is appropriate for your needs before applying to this role. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
