Director of Individual Giving

The Director of Individual Giving is responsible for leading and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on unrestricted revenue growth from major gift prospects and individual donors. This position serves as a key member of the Development and Communications team and is responsible for building and managing a robust individual donor pipeline, strengthening donor retention and acquisition, and advancing a culture of philanthropy across the organization. The Director will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and individual donors, oversee fundraising campaigns and stewardship initiatives, and utilize data and analytics to drive fundraising performance.

Latin American Youth Center’s (LAYC) mission is to empower youth to achieve a successful transition to adulthood, through comprehensive and innovative programs that address youths’ social, academic, and career needs. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Giving Strategy & Execution

• Partner with the CDCO to assess, enhance, execute, evaluate and grow LAYC’s individual giving strategy and develop annual individual revenue goals.
• Develop and implement individualized cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and upgrade strategies for major gift prospects.
• Lead prospect identification, qualification, solicitation and stewardship and the moves management process to convert event attendees, organizational relationships, and other affinity connections into individual prospects.
• Partner with development team, leadership and the Board to identify, cultivate, and steward individual donors and prospects from major gift prospects to mid-level to annual donors.
• Plan and execute the annual fund including year-end, monthly donor and workplace giving campaigns, direct mail, digital, and special fundraising campaigns. Use data to refine timing, segmentation, and increase acquisition, retention and upgrade rates.

• Promote best practices in donor-centered fundraising and relationship management.
• Assist with department planning, budgeting, and revenue forecasting.
• Collaborate with communications and program teams to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.

Stewardship & Donor Experience

• Lead the fundraising strategy, audience segmentation, and donor messaging for individual-giving communications and campaigns, partnering with communications staff on content needed based on donor segment.

• Create meaningful engagement opportunities that strengthen donor loyalty and long-term support.

Data, Tracking & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate and complete records of individual donors, prospects, engagement activity, gift opportunities, and outcomes in CRM (DonorPerfect) and internal tracking systems.

• Analyze donor trends and fundraising outcomes to inform strategy and decision-making and to update individual giving dashboards, reports and performance metrics.

• Ensure effective prospect management and pipeline movement toward fundraising goals.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization.

• Demonstrated success in securing and closing five- and six-figure gifts.

• Experience managing individual giving and/or donor stewardship initiatives.

• Experience working with volunteer leaders, boards of directors, and/or senior executives.

• Experience using CRM systems and fundraising analytics to drive fundraising strategy and performance (ie DonorPerfect, GiveSmart, iWave/Kindsight or similar platforms).

• Experience developing and managing fundraising pipelines and donor portfolios.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated expertise in individual giving cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, donor lifecycle management, and moves management.
• Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and credibility among donors, board members, volunteers, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in team environments.
• Proficiency in donor databases, CRM platforms, and data-driven decision-making to strengthen fundraising outcomes and campaign performance.
• Strong project management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills.
• Ability to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, ethical standards, and donor data security in a fast-paced environment.
• Deep commitment to youth development, youth empowerment, racial equity, and community-centered work.
• Experience working and communicating effectively with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Flexible, energetic, and positive approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work occasional evenings and weekends for events, school activities, or organizational deadlines.
• Commitment to creating and supporting a high-quality, respectful, and inclusive environment for young people and families.
• Complete required criminal background and child abuse/neglect clearances.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 10 lbs. May require the ability to travel locally and/or regionally.
